Tessa Mythos is a multi-disciplinary visual artist.
Born in Victoria BC, 1982, she has lived and shown her work internationally, in Gallery’s and in Forests and on city walls she has exhibited in a range of manners and mediums. She has resided on and off Hornby Island for years where she’s worked in a range of mediums and methods. She is currently focused on Oil painting and learning old masters painting techniques. Mythos has worked with found object sculpture and assemblage, moveable sculpture, large abstract painting, murals, street art, silkscreening, block-printing, costume design, acrylic painting, collage, and the continuation of her ongoing graphic novels and illustrations (A Faery Tale, Earthsong, Mythology, Book of Secrets).
She is a self-taught artist believing in experience as the greatest teacher. Her work is based on and inspired by an ongoing study of mythology and spirit (personal and universal) and explores the inter-relationships of symbol in culture and nature.
Greatly moved by the ceremonial and ritualistic aspects of creation Mythos is inspired by the realms of spirit and magic, faery tales, animals, nature, folklore, prophecy, medicine and the healing arts, infinity, love, death, evolution, sacred symbolism, primal expressionism and the subconscious and conscious aspects of the human psyche have been the bases of her works to date.
She currently resides in Canada, where she is studying old Masters and Classical Techniques of painting.
